Vitamins on my Desk

My desk is cluttered with various knick-knacks. Three coffee mugs sit on one corner. I use one to drink coffee, one to hold pens and one I fill with assorted rogue bits left over from the days work: paper clips, a hair beret, someone’s plastic floss tool.

I don’t have any pictures on my desk. I used to, but then I realized I was spending too much time gazing at my pictures and not enough time getting work done, so they had to go. Though, I have a handsome picture of my brother behind my desk. Men who are new to the office often think it’s my husband, which I don’t really mind, because it keeps them from hitting on me.

I usually have some project which takes up half the desk, something involving glue, or many paper tabs or an oversized calender.

And then I have a jar of vitamins. I bought the vitamins online from a website my friend suggested to me through a blog. The vitamins are great but they are a bit pricey, which is recently becoming a problem…

The vitamins on my desk are sort of like M&M’s. They come in little packets, and there’s 60 packets in a jar, so I’ve been letting my coworkers grab a packet if they want to. I’ve got a lot of coworkers and the desk vitamins always stir up a bit of interest, so I’m running out of vitamins faster than I want to. If vitamins came in bar form, people wouldn’t say, “Hey, break me off a piece of that vitabar.” But no one has a problem snatching a little packet. I’m thinking about asking my boss for some reimbursement.

Aerobics at Work

I’m an executive assistant. Doesn’t that sound fancy? I’m a secretary, but I’m a secretary for a whole office which means there’s three men and two women who can directly assign me work, and at the same time there’s zero men and zero women who can enforce said work, because it’s up to me to deligate assignments to the rest of the office.

Anyway, I set at a desk all day, and I know this isn’t good for the shape of my buns. I’m not a spring chicken, but I’m no dead fish either, and I’m still trying to keep my buns in the habit of being noticed. So, I’ve decided to adjust what I do at the office. I’m changing the way I work. I’m adding little routines and exercises to my day and I’m taking short breaks to do some basic stretching over the period of the day. I don’t have a solid plan yet, but as I figure this “Office Aerobics” thing out, I’ll keep you updated on what’s working and what’s not. I hope this is helpful!

Oh, and sorry about the weird blog title. It’s an office in joke (I lost a bet with the other secretary).
